Introduction to Finca El Arbol
In 2016, Project Origin founder Saša Sestic, along with coffee producer Claudia Lovo and other coffee professionals, took a bold step to transform Finca El Árbol, located in the Dipilto region of Nicaragua. The name “El Árbol,” meaning “the tree,” was inspired by a giant tree that stands majestically in the middle of the coffee farm. The project is not just about selling coffee, but creating a sustainable change in the coffee industry by focusing on producing high-quality, organic specialty coffees.
Sustainable Development
The main goal of the project was to convert Finca El Árbol from a commodity coffee farm to a well-maintained and innovative farm. Under Claudia’s guidance, the farm has transformed from a neglected state into a habitat that supports flora, fauna, and local communities. Here, we grow a variety of coffee varieties and also serve as a hub for innovative post-harvest techniques, including the renowned carbonic maceration technique.
Tempting Taste and Aroma
Coffee from Finca El Árbol is known for its intensely sweet purple fruit aromas and rich flavors. Each cup carries a creamy finish with a long, sweet aftertaste, making it the perfect choice for specialty coffee lovers. Since 2019, Project Origin and Bridazul have been working together to not only improve the quality of coffee, but also improve the livelihoods and incomes of coffee farmers in Nueva Segovia. Through improved farming practices and the implementation of innovative techniques such as carbonic maceration, we are committed to delivering coffee that not only tastes great but also has a positive impact on the communities involved.
